Producing Campaigns with Impact

Producing the "Luminaries" video for the Black Dog Institute was a profoundly rewarding experience that underscored the power of storytelling in mental health advocacy. Collaborating with the agency Republic of Everyone, we aimed to highlight the significance of bequests in advancing mental health research and support.

Documentary Production for Organisations

The project featured three interviewees, each sharing their personal journeys with mental health challenges and their motivations for becoming Luminaries—individuals who have pledged a gift in their will to the Black Dog Institute. Their stories were deeply personal, reflecting a commitment to creating a mentally healthier world for future generations.

Working with these individuals required a sensitive and empathetic approach. As a producer, I prioritised creating a safe and comfortable environment, allowing them to share their experiences authentically. This openness was crucial in conveying the genuine impact of their contributions.

Despite operating on a modest budget, the collaboration with award-winning Director of Photography Kevin Khang elevated the production quality. Kevin's expertise in utilising natural light and composing thoughtful shots brought a visual depth that complemented the heartfelt narratives. Filming in Bondi residence provided a variety of serene backdrops, allowing the participants' messages of hope and resilience to shine through.

Sydney advertising agency Republic of Everyone worked with our documentary production team on set to ensure ensured that the interviews got to the core of the message, and then in post-production our in-house editor at Motley Content was responsible for creating a finished film that resonated with the intended audience and achieved the organisation’s marketing objectives.
